The position of Youth Director at Ray Memorial Presbyterian Church is open.

Our 160-member congregation is located in a town of 11,500 that lies 25 miles west of Athens and 45 miles east of Atlanta.

We’re looking for a person who has a love for middle school and high school youth, who feels the Lord’s call to work with them, who will model Christian discipleship for them, and who has the skill set to grow this ministry, spiritually, programatically, and numerically.

At present 6–10 youth (grades 7–12) are active participants. The position entails 12 to 15 hours per week. It is essential that our next Youth Director has had experience as leader of a church youth group or as an active member of a church youth group.

The Youth Director must be comfortable working/teaching within Reformed/Presbyterian belief and practice.

He or she will:

• possess organizational and communication skills;
• have (or develop) the ability to recruit, motivate and manage volunteers;
• report to the pastor, coordinate with the Youth Committee Chair, and work collegially with church staff;
• build trusting relationships with parents and other adults in the congregation;
• in consultation with the Christian Education Committee and Worship Committee, develop (and publish) a calendar of activities/events/opportunities designed to grow the
youth as disciples of Christ;
• these might include Six Flags, Stone Mountain, UGA activities, bowling, ball games, mission trips, conferences, taking leadership in worship, etc.;
• creativity in developing new programs is welcome!
• administer and lead the above;
• research and make recommendations re curriculum;
• manage the youth budget and related fund-raising activities;
• communicate weekly with youth and their parents via email, social networks, and published documents.
